Collective research into power plant technologies
In association with the parent company, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe – in cooperation with university chairs and institutes – sponsors research into ultra-modern power plant technology to the tune of around EUR 30 million. Our partners include RWTH Aachen, the Ruhr University of Bochum and the TU Dortmund.
Research cooperation in North Rhine Westphalia is focused on:
- Examination into fuels and ashes for the design of new power plant processes: small-scale combustion tests, computational models for power plant design
- Support given to guest research work at various university chairs in NRW
- Oxyfuel combustion: measurements of gas components in the flame zone; cooperation in the "Future Replacement Fuels" research project
- Techniques for precipitating CO2 from power plant flue gases: engineering, design and experimental investigations
